ALTIVIA Institute Industrial Park

Positioned for Growth & Customer Reach

Reach as many of your customers as quickly and cost-efficiently as possible from the heart of the Industrial Appalachians.

ALTIVIA’s Institute Industrial Park is ideally situated 10 miles west of Charleston in the heart of West Virginia’s historic Chemical Valley and has ample room for expansion.

Spanning 400 acres adjacent to the Kanawha River, the site is home to forward-thinking companies intent on fostering a safe and economical operating environment while operating in market segments that range from pharmaceuticals and medicine, to mining, plastics, and many other chemical intermediates.

The ALTIVIA Institute site has an unmatched proximity to markets and a variety of resources available to your business, ensuring success. 50% of the US population and 30% of the Canadian population live within a 500-mile (805 kilometer) radius of West Virginia.

Not only are the markets nearby, but they are easily accessed: the Kanawha River connects the site to all major inland waterways in the United States, and the Norfolk Southern railroad can haul your freight across its 20,000 miles (31,200 kilometers) of network and interchanges with all other Class-1 railroads.

Originally constructed in 1942 to manufacture synthetic rubber, the site has a long history with the highly skilled and capable chemical industry workforce in West Virginia. The state, via its Department of Commerce, offers a variety of workforce development programs and incentives to help you and your company make West Virginia your new home.

The site is situated at the locus of the major domestic transportation networks and is conveniently located near the Yeager airport in Charleston.

Potential modes of transport to and from the site include:

  • Barges on the Kanawha River, connecting to the Ohio River and then on to the Mississippi River
  • Rail via the Kanawha River Railroad and Norfolk Southern
  • Immediate access to Interstate 64, with nearby access to Interstates 77 and 79, and US Route 35
